Types of assessments

To ensure you receive the treatment that is right for you, our Psychologist’s are trained to identify and report on a variety of different cognitive differences. The types of conditions and behaviours we test for are as follows:

Autism (ASD)

Autism refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and communication.

Attention Deficit (ADHD)

ADHD can be diagnosed as an ongoing pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning and development & social behaviour

Dyslexia

A condition that affects the brains processing of information such as the way a person reads, writes, and spells, typically recognized as a learning disorder.

Dyspraxia (DCD)

A neurodevelopmental disorder of movement and coordination in which messages sent from the brain to the muscles are interrupted

Dyscalculia

A neurodevelopmental disorder that affects a person’s ability to understand number-based information and math

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

A pattern of unwanted thoughts, fears or obsessions that lead a person to do repetitive complusive behaviors and actions

Developmental language disorder (DLD)

Developmental language disorder is a characterised by a person who has difficulty talking and/or understanding spoken language

Cognitive Functioning

General testing for cognitive ability (Intelligence) that assess abilities involved in thinking such as reasoning, perception, memory, verbal ability and problem solving

Funding Options

Helping Children with Autism (Medicare)

If your child is under 13 years of age and has been referred by a paediatrician or psychiatrist for an assessment relating to autism or any other pervasive developmental disorder, then you may be eligible for a total of 4 medicare rebates worth $89.65. To be eligible for this, we would require a referral letter from either of those professionals to process this on your behalf.

*Occasionally, the Psychologist may recommend that other tests and measures be used based on how the child performs. If this is the case, you will be notified before the assessment starts and if additional costs will be incurred. We will ensure that you are provided a comprehensive quote that will need to be approved this if it the case. Payment is required in full before the report is released by the Psychologist. We have a range of payment options available if this is something that you would like to discuss with our friendly team.
